Our Story

Step Out Media began in Buffalo, NY, when we couldn’t find a simple way to keep up with everything happening around town—so we created one! Our goal? To help locals discover all the best things to eat, drink, and do, any day of the week. We tell you what’s happening, what to expect, and how to make the most of it—year-round.

Unlike typical city guides built for tourists, Step Out is for locals. We go beyond the big festivals to highlight the hidden gems and everyday events that make a city vibrant. We also support small businesses through killer content and influencer-style advertising.

Founded by a curious, community-loving father-daughter team, we’ve spent over a decade helping Buffalo thrive. When visitors started asking for Step Out in their cities, we listened—expanding first to Columbus, OH, with more cities coming soon!

Meet the Team

Emily Morrow

Co-founder & Director of Storytelling

Emily is an entrepreneur, marketer, storyteller and foodie. Her first love is and always will be food - exploring restaurants, cuisines, and seeking new experiences. By day she works on growing Step Out Media and contemplates the business idea du jour. By night you'll find her enjoying family time, *trying* to step out as much as possible, listening to podcasts as often as humanly possible and hyper fixating on new hobbies and DIY projects.

Chuck Kluckhohn

Co-founder & Publisher

Chuck is the idea man behind Step Out Media. With a background in publishing, advertising and journalism to name a few, Chuck has led the way in creating and building this company from the ground up. On any given day he can be found trying new restaurants, reading, traveling, mastering the game of golf and enjoying his grandkids.

Rick Fickhesen

Director of Advertising

Rick has been working as the Director of Advertising for Step Out Media since the early days and he's seen it all. His role includes campaign management and new customer acquisition. With an entrepreneurial spirit and background in sales & marketing Rick works directly with local businesses on executing their media campaigns on Step Out Media. When he's not in the office you can find him enjoying the outdoors snowboarding, hunting, or kiteboarding on Lake Erie.

Sarah Parry

Marketing Manager

Sarah's a people person who loves connecting with local businesses and organizations to help them reach the residents and visitors so they can explore and enjoy it as much as she does. Although you can find Sarah doing just about anything, her favorite things to do are going for hikes, attending festivals and markets, going to concerts, thrifting and antiquing, trying out new restaurants and bars, and traveling!

Andrea Diedrich

Content Coordinator

Andrea is a Content Coordinator for Step Out Media. By day she enjoys exploring her creative side in Step Out's editorial content and researching new ways to connect with our readers. By night you’ll find her trying out the newest dining spots with friends or catching the latest show/concert in town.

Dominic Ricotta

Advertising Account Consultant - Buffalo

Dominic is an Advertising Account Manager at Step Out Media - Buffalo, NY, working with clients in a variety of industries to build and execute effective campaigns in WNY. He's a passionate Buffalo Bills fan and family man.

Joey Stewart

Content Creator/Marketer - Columbus

Joey is a creative who dabbles in a little bit of everything. At Step Out, you can find him doing everything from shoveling massive sandwiches into his face to writing articles, scoping out the next hidden gem, and going on deep tangents with the Creative Team. Outside of work, he's a part-time musician, comedy writer, wannabe snowboarder, and up-and-coming dirt bike enthusiast (much to the dismay of his mother).

Arthur Fragoso

Advertising Account Consultant - Columbus

Arthur is an Aadvertising Account Consultant in Columbus, OH, with over a decade of experience in account management in various sectors. When he is not actively helping clients grow their business through Step Out's channels, you can find him in the outdoors hiking or camping, or catching the Buckeyes game.

Sarah Nowakowski

Content Creator - Buffalo

Sarah Nowakowski is a digital marketing strategist, content creator, and all-around small business hype woman. With over six years of experience in the digital space, she’s built her career helping brands find their voice and their audience. She’s especially passionate about the local gems that make Buffalo such a special city. Her mission is to create smart, scroll-stopping content to take Buffalos small businesses to the next level. When she’s not filming Reels or editing voiceovers, you’ll find her exploring WNY’s food scene, connecting with community, and manifesting a life where passion and purpose always align.
